All these while I have been playing truant and have kept me away from attending Static lecture. Thursday morning I decided to attend Static lecture. To my amazement, this lecturer is actually FABULOUS! His satirical sense of humour surely has enlivened the class and his vast general knowledge have really put me to shame. I got to say I truly touched by his words of wisdom. His words made me see in a better & right perspective on life as a University student. "Uni students don’t just study" is already a hoary phrase. We knew since high school or to some, primary school. Living in this intensely globalized world, we are bound to keep ourselves abreast of the latest development of technologies, books, trend, magazine, products, global economic growth, market demands, politics, food & beverages, design, automobiles, etc. The list is long. My lecurer was actually pointing out the weaknesses of our current educational system, which have greatly captivated me in the first 30 minutes of his lecture. He has strong point for this subject and beyond doubt that we shouldn’t have placed ourselves so high above others while sinking in the euphoria of celebrating UM as top notch university only in Malaysia. He also explained for us government’s aspiration & insistence to be the educational hub in south east Asia is because the government wants to make money through tertiary education. One way to achieve it is to boost the ranking of our Local Universities.
Globalization, in short, has unite people around the globe by means of similar idealogy, similiarities & common interests. To put it in the simplest term, countries all over the world are interdepent in many ways. We may listen to the same songs, musics, food & clothes, only to whom who keep themselves updated. My lecturer wish that more students of his class could fortify foundation of mechanical egineerings. He wishes us to be well-rounded in the future.
