Life in National Service (Part 1)

 28/12/2008 Sunday
Bidding My Adieu
This day has came finally. I have no right to say NO to National Service (NS) as I have been selected by the government & must abide by the supreme law. After making double check on my luggage, my family & I have departed from my most endeared home, and heading to PISA, where we wereinstructed to gather at there. I alighted from this familiar car & to my astonishment, I saw many people who shared the same fate with me, crowding at vicinity of the registration site. Many of them were queuing up to register their name, some were finding their buses, some were taking the last photo with their family members, some were like waiting for someone’s arrival, … All imaginable colours & shape s of the luggages can be seen at here.            The morning atmosphere should supposedly be fresh & clean. But the harmful, black gases emitted from the exhaust fume of the buses filled the atmosphere. The unpleasant smell of the gas had further spoilt everyone’s sunday mood. Here, I saw a series of expression, range from sad to happy appearance. But mine is rather queer. The bus was going to leave. Those familiar hands were waving at me. My eyes were still dry, I don’t really feel like crying. Why? I don’t know. I am sorry that I can’t join those strangers whose eyes were brimming with tears. :P
The bus took off & heading to a foreign place(though it is still in Penang state), namely Machang Bubuk, Bkt Mertajam. I grasped my chance to introduce myself & was trying to be as friendly as I could because I knew they’ll be with me for the next 3 months. Smile, is the most effective way to show your enthusiasm to others, or perhaps it’s the only way to bridge two different souls together…You did it well, my Mr. Smile. : )
My Arrival to Camp Syruz Situated in the outskirts of Bukit Mertajam, this campsite
is blessed with attractive & strategic terrain. You will not miss the large
lake situated beside the canteen. Each gender has 8 dorm, males live in plateau
whereas femaleslive in flat ground. Apart from that, this campsite is equipped
with sufficient facilities such as toilets, clinic, multipurpose hall (canteen/hall)
& classrooms. However, all were built in the rudimentary state. It makes me
think that how much money was embezzled by the administration, which should be
fully spent on the construction work. Aiks…As long we are safe living in
these infrastructures, I’ll be grateful d.

Table below shows the time we eat daily:

Total time spent on eating: 6 hours (1/4 time of a day)

Most of the time, we are served with disgusting &
revolting foods that I ever have in the whole course of my life. So, I eat 2
meals a day instead of 6 meals. Breakfast & lunch are considerably OK to
me. I take them. :)
Plates, spoons, forks & cups are rally seen to be clean. And I never trust
the previous user of this plate, spoon, fork & cup that he had washed them thoroughly
for me. For the sake of my own health, I wash them again before & after my
meal THOROUGHLY. Next, a long queue is expected & you will need to wait for
about 5-10 minutes to reach your turn & pick up those nauseated foods.
Hoo-ray! Finally I can eat! Yummy! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! HOUSE…………………FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The most abhorred, inevitable threat-housefly, is said to be sent by PLKN to instill
patience & foster good health among the trainees. No brutal act against
little flies. No vulgar expletives are to be uttered at little undignified flies
(Consider the risk that the fly might dash into your throat…You wouldn’t want
that happen, would you?) Sometime, we might have eaten food containing the
flies larva unwittingly. Day by day, our bodies accumulate the poison… One day,
our bodies might have developed immunity against it (Naturally Acquired Active
Immunity). Thank to PLKN! :-)
The Routine Wake up at 0600—Gather at Padang Kawat before 0630—Sing national anthem & ‘Wira Wirawati’ song—Recite oath—A little work for your body Lagu Wira Wirawati
